I am persuing a career in law enforcement and wanted to know about the police academies. Is it like a boot camp that you go to for so many weeks or is it day-to-day training? Is there a weight/height requirement? How long is it? Just wanted to know from people who have been through it already, men and women. Thanks for all of your answers.

To many variables. Each state has different requirements and so do most larger cities. Even within a state some are barracks systems some are college like. My academy has 9, 12 and 18 week courses depending on who they are training for. Same with height/weight/age requirements, you need to check for the specific department.

In Arizona the department that hires you sends you to the academy. Yes it is like boot camp just not as hard. Mine was 16 weeks, then I had to go to a 2 week training last year to carry a tazer.
