Next year I’ll be entering the police academy as part of my degree program. The course description says it’s a 12 credit course, M-F 7AM-5PM. Is it really like taking 12 credits worth of regular classes? I want to take 2 other evening classes while I’m in the academy (a 4 credit bio class and a 1 credit phys ed class). Has anyone who’s gone through an academy think this is feasible?
Edit: title should read, how time consuming is the coursework for the police academy

What should I major in college if I want to go to a police academy after graduation?
I know criminal justice would be obvious but someone told me I’d be more well-rounded if i did something else. The academies teach you everything that has to do with criminal justice anyway.

hey I am thinking on joining the australian police forces are like a detective type person, specificly a homocide type squad were I were street cloths or a tie and suit. I understand if I have to be a patrol cop before hand. I am wondering are we allowed to bring our weapons home after duty and our badges like for protection or something along the lines?
secondly what about the australian deferal police, what differes them from the normal police? do they investigate murders and such? anyhting about this topic would be usful

I am currently 18 years old and want to apply for the Philadelphia police department. I know that I have to be 19 years old at the start of police academy so I was wondering what the time frame for all that was. Can I apply now to get the ball rolling even though I am not 19? If I am correct, I could still take the test and do all the other steps as long as I am 19 by the start of academy… Does anyone know what the date is for the start of the next academy? Thank you….

I was just wandering, can you join the police force (UK) if you have a simple caution for an air rifle offence?

I am persuing a career in law enforcement and wanted to know about the police academies. Is it like a boot camp that you go to for so many weeks or is it day-to-day training? Is there a weight/height requirement? How long is it? Just wanted to know from people who have been through it already, men and women. Thanks for all of your answers.
