In India, the police is having very very bad immage. they do not work honestly. crime is increasing like any thing as protectors of law and order are directly involved in crime. Traffice police and civil police force never do their job. But when it comes to justfy their unlawfull action, they have the capacity to prove any thing right in their favor. this is major problem in India today.

I can tell you in the USA, contrary to what you read from the immature haters posting on these boards, the police are well trained and heavily scrutinized and must live by many laws, standards and rules.
Most agencies have Internal Affairs bureaus that regulate the officers and investigate reports of wrong doing.
The FBI also has authority to investigate any claims by the public of civil rights violations by local and state law enforcement.
