Actually its easier to join the UK police force than it is in the US. The educational requirement is much lower but thats mainly because the US education system is so terrible that a high school diploma is worthless, not so in the UK. They will like military service on your resume but just like the US prefer UK military service but are not as dismissive of foreign experience as the US can be and whilst I cannot comment on exactly how they would veiw American service, my guess would be that it would still be an advantage. Their selection process is much more intelligent. There are plenty of ex UK military veterans in the Police force and they have a big advantage. Where your difficulty lies is not knowing anything about the community although unlike the US police force you don’t have to be a UK citizen to join just a legal resident but you have lived in the UK for 3 years before you apply which is reasonable considering you should have a basic grasp of how the country functions before you can police it. That requirement is waived for military personel who have been overseas but I have a feeling that is for British military only, but its not clear so its worth checking into.Lastly the Metropolitan Police force is the most competetive of all the Police departments. Something to bear in mind. Most who want to join the Police want to join the Met. However, if you are black or a woman, you have a big advantage. They are actively recruiting from those groups as London is so diverse.

I also think they could possibly be the most polite Police force in the world as my American husband found out when he was pulled over in the UK! He was stunned by how nice they were! I miss the bobbies with their breast shaped hats!
Marine what…? Depends cause all Marines aren’t the same. After boot camp support Marines combat weapons training ends. Infantryman never stop training. Only Infantryman are bad ass…!
